🇺🇾 Let's continue exploring Latin American cinema with a screening of the Cannes-winning tragicomedy Whisky, 2004, a Uruguayan classic. ⠀ 🎬 About the film: Jacobo runs a small, struggling sock factory and leads a life of quiet desperation. A year after his mother's death, his more successful brother, Herman, unexpectedly announces that he will visit to attend the unveiling of their mother's gravestone. To impress his brother, Jacobo asks his loyal chief employee, Marta, to pretend to be his wife during the visit. What follows is a slow-burning, darkly comic story about lonely, emotionally repressed characters, in which the unspoken reality is far more devastating than anything said aloud. 💬 Post-Screening Discussion: After the movie, we’ll gather to share impressions and discuss the film with Arevik, a Hispanic culture enthusiast and experienced teacher of Spanish and English. 🏥 Supporting a Cause: A portion of all donations from this screening will be sent to support the Molding Minds initiative. ⠀ 🗓 When: Saturday, August 1 🕕 Timing: Gathering of guests at 17:45, screening starts at 18:00 ❗️ Language: Original Spanish with English subtitles 💰 Admission: Donation (any amount in AMD on-site, cash only) ☑️ Registration via the form at lancoworking.am, the link is in the profile bio @lanyerevan (events -> choose the desired event) 📍 Where: LAN Tumanyan St. 35G
