This is one of the classic questions in the philosophy of mathematics. Is mathematics something humans invented, or something we discovered? Philosophers and mathematicians have argued about this question for centuries, and there are very different ways of looking at it. Are numbers and mathematical truths somehow independent of us, waiting to be discovered? Or is mathematics a system created by the human mind? And what does it even mean for something like a number to “exist”? For our next meeting, we’ll discuss these questions and the different ideas surrounding them. Everyone is welcome to bring their own perspective, arguments, questions, or simply come and see where the conversation takes us. The discussion will be in English. No special knowledge of mathematics or philosophy is needed - just curiosity and a desire to share your ideas.
